Must read

Mr. Ekudanyo Gilpin, Managing Director of the Rokel Commercial Bank, has, in an exclusive interview with nightwatch newspaper, dedicated the numerous awards the bank has received to the dedication and commitment of staff members at the RCB to change.

He also noted that the change of government and the determination to ensure that a Sierra Leonean owned bank can showcase innovation and creativity to improve on financial inclusion and illiteracy for the better number of Sierra Leoneans that do not have access to financial points.

The RCB MD said that his leadership and vision coupled up with the staff’s desire for change has immensely contributed to the growth of the bank over the last one year.

Speaking on the successes of the bank, over the last one year, the MD disclosed that they have been able to launch the RokelSimkorpor Application, which, he noted, was able to drive the overall financial inclusion strategy of the Bank of Sierra Leone and by extension the New Direction Government.

He also noted that they have been able to increasingly provide the needs of their customers through the introduction of a number of products and services towards improving financial intermediation.

Mr. Ekundayo Gilpin noted that, in 2019, the vision of the Bank will be to penetrate vulnerable areas in the country, such as Bonthe, Kroobola, Kailahun and Kambia. This, according to him, is to continue to improve on financial inclusion, which, he noted, is a huge challenge for the sector.

He expressed the desire of the bank to improve on loan schemes for big businesses, while also improving on Corporate Social Responsibility programs with a view to give back to society.

The RCB MD took the opportunity to also speak on the tremendous efforts they have been making, as a bank, to support the President’s Free and Quality Education and the Presidential Initiative to clean the country, noting that RCB is the only financial institution that has physically participated and supported the national Saturday cleaning exercise despite making other numerous contributions financially and logistically to the exercise since its exception.

It will be recalled that Rokel Commercial Bank and its Managing Director have been continuously receiving different awards from various organizations in the country, either as the best Chief Executive Officer for the year 2018 or as the best bank in terms of Corporate Social Responsibility or their appreciation for their support to various sectors of the economy.
