REVEALED… 400 Government Vehicles Intercepted

By Donstance Koroma

The Committee for the retrieval of Government vehicles, set up by President Bio, has disclosed that four hundred (400) government vehicles were intercepted by Guinea Interpol officers deployed at the border point.

Isaac Green, a member of the said committee, made this disclosure at the early Morning Coffee radio program on the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) on Thursday 19th April, 2018.

He pointed out that the committee is embarking on stock taking of all government vehicles to prevent the purchasing of new government vehicles, taking into consideration the huge national and international debts the country now finds itself in.

Green furthered that, out of the eight hundred (800) government vehicles, they have only been able to retrieve only thirty six (36) vehicles, pointing out that the committee consists of officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the Traffic Department and committee members.

Revelation from the hundred and seventy (170) vehicles for ambulance services is that only thirty are in operation while the remaining one hundred and forty (140) vehicles’ engines and wheel tires have been removed and  replaced with old ones.

Ministers that have been replaced and have in possession their vehicles should return them as the 18th April 2018 was the deadline for all government vehicles, Green warned.

Mr. Green said they will check the records of the Ministry of Transport and Aviation to ascertain the number of vehicles purchased for Ministries, Departments and Agencies, and will also go into the records of the MDAs for any   discrepancy, including those that were given by donors and agencies respectively, and after that they will handover the report to the lawful authority, the police, for further investigation.
