Rioters still in Remand

Rioters arrested at Wallace Johnson and Falcon Bridge Streets In Freetown are still in custody at the Male and female Correctional centres on Pa Demba Road and New England streets in Freetown.
Sahid Ahmed Bangura, Hassan Bangura, Sallieu Kamara and a female, Isha Conteh among others are in court for offences ranging from disorderly behaviour, throwing missiles and riotous conduct.
All accused persons denied the allegations for which they are arraigned before the court.
They are represented by defence counsel Claudius Campbell who have insistently applied for bail, but has been turned down by the court.
The accused persons have made several appearances in court without being granted bail despite bail applications made by their defence counsel.
Yesterday’s proceedings marked the third appearance of the accused persons and a remand order was also handed down although the matter was not called in court.
The charge sheet indicates that the accused persons on 24th January 2020, at Falcon Bridge and Wallace Johnson streets in the Freetown judicial district in the Western Area of the Republic of the Republic of Sierra Leone conspired with other persons unknown to commit a crime. To wit: riotous conduct and maliciously damage window glasses at the Turkish Consulate and other properties all valued at Le75M.
Accused persons were denied bail and the matter comes up on 19th February.
