The Managing Editor of the Watch Newspaper, who also doubles as social and political commentator, Mr. Kandeh Sesay, popularly known as Salone Malema, is of the view that election is not war and he cautioned supporters of various political parties to desist from violence and other forms of intimidations.

He made this call on Monday 26th February 2018 whilst supporters of various political parties were attacking each other in the east end of Freetown. He added that election is a process wherein people express their constitutional mandate and it should not be used to cause unrest and other havoc on ordinary Sierra Leoneans.

Salone Malema said the electorate should act more responsibly because much is expected from them and desist from the tactical approach of politicians by inducing them into chaos.

Mr. Sesay called on the youths not to be used by any political party to cause violence, but rather engage in something productive. He added that Sierra Leoneans should stop voting for what he called “feel good effects” and they must liberate themselves from that primitive thought and push the country forward. He encouraged all and sundry to come out in their numbers to vote for their preferred candidates.
