The DVC of FBC, Prof Kelleh Gbawuru Mansaray, received sanitary items from Sama Foundation on behalf of Fourah Bay College (FBC) on Thursday 11 May 2023 in the committee room of the administrative building.
The National Coordinator of Sama Foundation, Sheku Saccoh Turay, briefed the FBC administration about the establishment of the foundation and its activities countrywide. He said the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr Bundu Hayes who is resident in the USA, deemed it necessary to give back to his country by supporting the less privileged with sporting items and equipment.
Sheku stated that, the foundation has donated sporting items especially football items to many schools in Freetown, the regional headquarters and some districts, football clubs, amputee teams, communities, et al.
So, the founder considered donating sanitary items to FBC being one of the oldest universities in West Africa, he went on.
The DVC, Prof Kelleh Gbawuru Mansaray, appreciated the items on behalf of FBC as a timely intervention by the foundation. He also stated that, since we’ve been donating sporting equipment nationwide, he would love to see Sama Foundation donating to FBC in the future especially to the football team.
Augustine A. Garmoh, Chairman, Asset Committee of FBC who chaired the programme, reiterated the area of Sama Foundation supporting FBC with football and sporting equipment which will contribute to the development of sports in the university.
Also in attendance were, Mr Brima Bah, Deputy Registrar, and Mr Ibrahim Conteh, Assistant Deputy Registrar.
