Sex Offender Granted Bail

Justice Reginald Fyne of Freetown High Court on Wednesday 25th September 2019 granted Alusine Bangura twenty-five million Leones bail.

The accused person was dragged to court for allegedly penetrating a child under the age of eighteen years.

The accused person stands trial on one count of sexual penetration of a child contrary to section 19 of the Sexual Offences Act of 2012.

The particulars of offence indicated that the accused person on 25th February 2019 at Bureh town in the Western Rural District engaged in an act of sexual penetration with a child.

After the charges were read to the accused, he pleaded not guilty of the offence and the defense counsel, Spencer Caulker from the Legal Aid Board made an application for bail on behalf of the accused by stating that he is a Sierra Leonean and will not jump bail nor interfere with prosecution witnesses, but the state prosecutor, Esther Kabia vehemently objected to bail.

The accused person was granted twenty-five million Leones bail and two sureties in like sum and that each surety should be a resident in Bureh town.

The matter was assigned to Justice John Bosco Allieu and  adjourned to 7th October, 2019 for hearing.
