Since the release of the Governance Transition Team report on the 4 July, 2018 which implicated the Ernest Koroma-led regime for rampant corruption and other wrongdoings the reactions from members of the public have been mixed.
While many welcomed the reports and called on the government of President Bio to move a step further in making sure the recommendations of the report are speedily implemented, others have referred to it as a witch hunt basing their justifications on the notion that that the report has only targeted top APC officials leaving people they believed are in the current administration who had a stake in the past regime.
Despite the mixed reactions on the report, certain individuals have also pointed out errors with the mentioning of certain names and dates which many have challenged as factual errors.
While this exchange of words continue between the two political parties the ruling and opposition, many Sierra Leoneans who are interested in ending corruption in Sierra Leone and the restoration of transparency and accountability in the management of state resources are calling on President Bio to ensure that any enquiry set up should be able to cast its net wide by bringing to book all officials who have served as key officials in the past APC regime and are implicated in corrupt practices .Any attempt to cover up these individuals whose names and alleged involvements are already in the public domain will taint the process as a real witch hunt.
Osman Foday Yansaneh ,Secretary General of the APC had stated in a BBC interview and his party press release that they are not contending with the issues mentioned in the transition report but are concerned that certain top SLPP cronies currently serving in the new government such as the current Financial Secretary, Secretary to the Chief Minister , and Munda Rogers, former Director General Sierra Leone Road Authority (SLRA) were all part of the old administration and had taken part in key contract agreements noted in the report.
