Sierra Leone’s Special Envoy El Abbouti to take Legal Actions Against Alleged Fake Investors

Ali Topal

Sierra Leone’s credible Special Envoy for Trade and Investment, Ismail El Abbouti, is nearing completion of paper works with his legal team to file a formal complaint against five alleged fake investors all of whom are affiliates of AGT Europe.

Ali Topal, Huib Houben, Paul van Houdijk, Ercan Petan, and Gertjan Broot are alleged to have used false documents, fabricated meetings and defamation all aimed at damaging his hard-earned reputation and diplomatic standing.

Ismail El Abbouti’s case against these five musketeers range from: false allegations and forged documents, fake Board Meetings in the Netherlands that sought to falsely associate El Abbouti with their fabricated and clandestine activities.

The Special Envoy maintains that these “criminal” activities of the people named in the formal notice of complaints prepared by his legal team for the attention of the Criminal Justice System in The Hague, Netherlands and the Judicial Courts of Sierra Leone, indicates that the actions of Ali Topal et al., “have severely damaged his professional reputation as a Special Envoy for Trade and Investment for the Republic of Sierra Leone; that their actions of which they are falsely associating him with violates his diplomatic protection under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations (1961) and that their clandestine actions have the potential to disrupt international trade relations between the Republic of Sierra Leone and the Netherlands.

In view of these quite nauseating developments, the Special Envoy is formally requesting “an urgent legal investigation into these acts of forgery and defamation with the following action on his mind:

1: A Court Order to investigate the authenticity of the alleged Board Meeting purported by the accused persons and the verification of the document thereof;

2: An unconditional retraction of all defamatory statements made by them singly or collectively be it in public and in private;

3: A firm legal action against the accused as individuals or collectively under Dutch and Sierra Leonean jurisprudence and laws.

In a special statement to Nightwatch Watch, Ambassador Ismail El Abbouti condemned people who come to Sierra Leone on false pretext to invest, asserting that he as the Special Envoy for Trade and Investment will not tolerate any such person or group of persons and that he and the Government of Sierra Leone will ensure they smoke out any such person or group of persons: “The Government of Sierra Leone has an open trade and investment policy that is welcoming to every credible investor. What we will not tolerate and what we will bitterly frown at is to realize that any such investors has a criminal intent or is operating on falsehoods with intent to fleece the country and its people of much needed resources.”

He appealed to all credible potential investors to ensure they comply fully with the dictates and conditions of their investments to ensure clarity of their operations and to ensure clarity in the returns of their investment.

He assured that the case he is filing against Ali Topal, Huib Houben, Paul van Houdijk, Ercan Petan, and Gertjan Broot is a step at deepening sanity, and ensuring credibility and honesty within the Sierra Leone trade and investment environment.
