Sierratel Staff Robbed

Four accused, including Patrick Macarthy, Emmanuel Macarthy, Unisa Bangura and Alfred Sellu, on Thursday 5th November 2020, made their first appearance before Magistrate Hannah Bonnie of Court No. 1 as they were alleged to have conspired together and entered into the house of the complainant, Mohammed Foday Sheriff, and stole his properties worth over one million Leones.

The accused are arraigned on three counts of conspiracy and burglary, which are contrary to Section 25 (1) of the Larceny Act of 1916, and malicious damage, which is also contrary to Section 51 of the Malicious Damage Act of 1861.

According to the indictment, the accused, on Thursday 24th September 2020, at No. 2 Jomo Kenyetta Road in Freetown, conspired together to commit a felony, to wit burglary.

The charge sheet furthered that the accused, on the same day and place, broke and entered into the dwelling house of Mohamed Foday Sheriff with intent to steal and maliciously damaged some items in the house, which include PVC pipes, glasses, electrical bulb and other building materials worth one million two hundred and fifty five thousand Leones( Le1,255,000).

After the charges were read to the accused they pleaded not guilty of the offense.

The prosecutor, Sergeant 8998 Kadie Taylor, sought for a date as her witnesses were absent in court.

“I will endeavour to bring them to court on the next adjourned date,” she told the court.

The accused were granted bail and the matter comes up again on the 25th November 2020.
