Sister Testifies In Brother`s Murder Trial

Police prosecution witness, Adama Collier, has testified in the ongoing matter involving five accused who are standing trial at the Ross Road Magistrate Court No.1, which is presided over by Magistrate Alhaji Suliaman Koroma, for allegedly murdering one Moses Collier.

The alleged incident took place on 29th February 2020, at the Choithram factory, S.L.P.M.B., Wellington in the outskirts of Freetown.

The witness, in her evidence, said she recognized the accused as her elder brother’s co-worker and could recall 29th February 2020.

She said, on that fateful day, she was at home when she received a telephone call from one Mr. Bah who gave him information that her brother had fallen down at the generator room in the factory.

Mandan Collier said, upon receiving the information, she immediately left for the crime scene at Wellington in Freetown, adding that, upon her arrival, she met two police officers and her brother`s co-worker.

The witness said the 1st accused, Albert Kanyoga, told her that her brother had passed away. “I burst into tears,” Madam Collier told the court.

The witness said the remains of the deceased have been taken to the Connaught Hospital in Freetown, where an autopsy was conducted by the only government pathologist, Dr. Siemon Owizz Koroma. She said the corpse was handed over to her and other relatives for proper burial.

Madam Collier said she made a statement at the Kissy Police Division in Freetown after the burial ceremony.

The accused are standing trial for murder, which is contrary to law.

The police charge sheet adduces that Abdul Salam Conteh and five others, on the 29th February 2020, at Choithram factory, Wellington in Freetown, murdered Moses Collier.

The accused were refused bail and remanded at the Male Correctional Centre Pademba in Freetown and the matter comes again on 21st August, 2020.
