The Sierra Leone Swimming Diving and Water Polo Association have registered six (6) of its elite swimmers at the Body Tech-Fitness Studio Gymnasium, Siaka Stevens Stadium, as part of their preparation for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The six (6) swimmers, which include Joshua J.J. Wyse, Isha Kanu, Alie Kamara, Mohamed Kamara, Abdulai Sesay and Saidu Barrie will undergo medical examinations every day before embarking on the training.

Swimming Association’s Technical Director, Victor Carew, said they are grateful to FINA for providing them with the Olympic Assistance Support Project 2020 (OASP 2020) from which they are presently benefitting as a Technical department, adding that all athletes are training under the FINA Guidelines on returning to training.

He went further to state that the six elite swimmers, who registered in the Gym, had already represented the country in different competitions around the world in the past year.

“Each of the six athletes will receive five hundred thousand Leones as monthly training and welfare allowances for the six (6) months duration of the training,” he said.

“My department is happy because the physical training is helping to build up the swimmers in terms of mental and physical fitness at this time of COVID-19,” the Technical Director stated.

Carew also thanked the entire swimming executive for their relentless efforts towards promoting and developing the Athletes Development Pathway with the necessary funds and equipment even though the country is presently faced with the deadly Corona Virus.
