News coming from the well of parliament is suggesting that SLPP supporters who thronged the parliamentary gallery to witness the approval of several Presidential nominees for various parastatals positions were shouting that they want NGC’s Kandeh Yumkella to return to the SLPP.
This wooing of Yumkella was later endorsed by the Chairman and Leader of the party Dr. Alex Prince Harding- the nominee for the Chairmanship position of the National Telecommunications Commission. He said to have made a gesture of stretching his hands- suggestive of beckoning to Kandeh Yumkella to return home.
Similar reports had also emerged in the past weeks that the main opposition All Peoples Congress Party is intending to meet the leader of the National Grand Coalition and Sam Sumana of the Coalition for Change for possible mergers in the 2023 elections.
Whether this much anticipated merger will work on either sides of the political divide, we will wait to see.
But political observers have been curious about the early alliance building maneuvers of the two dominant parties for an undisputed political heavyweight that can tilt the balance of power depending on how he is going to conduct himself in the coming years.
