Hon. Paul Sam, Coalition for Change (C4C), has, during a special session on the raging corona virus, on Thursday exposed the ruling SLPP Members of Parliament for leaving their seats empty while Parliament was discussing the threatening corona virus across the globe.
The C4C MP highlighted that the SLPP Members of Parliament have displayed a nonchalant attitude while the lawmakers from the NGC, APC and other political parties are busy discussing an issue that is of a global threat to the economies of developed countries.
Leader of Government Business, Hon Sidi Mohamed Tunis, alluded to the observation made by Hon. Paul Sam, noting that, as lawmakers belonging to the ruling party, there is no need to remind them about what is expected of them.
The Leader of Government Business described the lackadaisical attitude of the SLPP MPs as a clear manifestation of irresponsibility.
He alled on Members of Parliament to start naming and shaming SLPP MPs who are in the habit of leaving the well of Parliament for side attractions that may not have any direct dealing with the order paper of the day.
Hon Tunis indicated that Parliament had summoned the Ministries of Health and Sanitation, Finance, Local Government and the Bank Governor, with a view to disclose to Parliament and, by extension, the people of Sierra Leone, about their level of preparedness with respect to the deadly corona virus.
He referred to the action of those SLPP lawmakers as a disgrace to the government and the constituents they are representing.
