SLPP NEGLECTS ITS STRONGHOLDS?

If that is the case would it not be suicide? No party in its right senses can tot with the people who are responsible for their status. The recent feeding program that has been launched in the far North of the country under the SLPP government whose strongholds are in the Southeastern parts of the country raises some curiosity.
In party governance each has its own strongholds even in developed countries. This could be based on ethnic and/or regional reasons. And it is a herculean to convert votes save for the fact that some voters are something bought over or really convinced by policy to switch sides. During the last two general and Presidential elections the APC in their euphoria peddled the untruth that there were no strongholds in Sierra Leone because they were under the delusion that they were popular through out the country had been spilt into North-West for the APC and South East for the SLPP.
The recent rapturous reception of President Bio in the APC strongholds of Tonkolili and Bombali District left some tongues wagging about the allegiance of those residents in spite of the fact that the visitor was the Head of State. This is more curious owing to the fact that his welcome was even more organized and receptive than in his own strongholds.
The scenario looked like a transposition of strongholds but not quite. It is a fact of history that the SLPP was born in the Northern Province which has now taken ownership of the party with most of the Northerners and Westerners regarding themselves as aliens in the party.
Turning to the inauguration of the national school feeding Program in the Northern Province some citizens could be wondering why it was not begun in the capital which not only has about one third of the country’s population but is also kind of neutral grounds harboring all ethnic groups. They argue that it would have made more sense. That would have absolved the government from all unnecessary insinuations.
The question begged here is whether the decision to begin the program where it was done came from the government or the Catholic Relief Services. If it came from the Catholic SLPP President it could be have been aid with the strings of location attached which was too attractive to be rejected. The plea of President Bio for the extension of the program to other parts of the country was plaintive with.
With pervasive hunger throughout the country citizens in the SLPP strongholds have every reason to be envious of the inauguration of the feeding program in the North. They have forlorn hopes of the arrival of the program in their strongholds in the knowledge that ‘’dry dogs swet for eat but watin for eat tae e dry’’( meaning that what happens until the uncertain future) Their disappointment is excercebated by the fact that the APC gave priority to their supporters in cases where there was a choice. The development of Makeni and Kenema under the APC are incomparable .
President Bio has been known to be a constructing the roads in his home District which were neglected for the past ten years .While acting as the President for all Sierra Leoneans he should be careful in his act of altruism. His electorate may not quite understand it.
