SLPP’s Maada Moiwa Momoh Reconciles with his people

Must read

Former Member of Parliament, Hon Maada Moiwa Momoh, of Jawie Chiefdom, has on Saturday 14th March 2020 asked all his supporters and residents to reconcile and embrace one another.
The former MP made this move during a peace and reconciliatory meeting organized by stakeholders amidst fanfare and spectacular welcome in Daru, Jawie Chiefdom in Kailahun District.
It could be recalled that, since the former MP lost election to an independent candidate, Hon Quintin Salia-Kooneh, the entire chiefdom went into disarray. The reconciliation was meant to unite the people to have peace, order and tranquility in the chiefdom.
In his welcome address, District Council Chairman, Keke Sahr Lamin, who chaired the meeting, described the event as history in the making, pointing out that it was timely for the former MP to visit the Chiefdom and bring the people together.
“The disunity in this chiefdom has affected developmental projects,” he noted, pointing out that “Our SLPP Candidate, Hon Maada Moiwa, lost to the independent, but it was timely to bring the people together,” the Kailahun District Chairman recounted.
He advised the former MP not to distance himself from his people and also admonished the people to stop the political pulling down-syndrome.
“Please forgive each other in order to correct your mistakes,” he concluded.
SLPP Secretary General for Constituency 007, Mohamed Konneh, alias ‘Legacy,’ said the party is above everybody and its ideology must be upheld.
He appealed to all and sundry to restore their party candidate come 2023.
SLPP Party Women’s Representative for Jawie Chiefdom, Baindu Karimu, recalled that President Bio and Hon Moiwa had a strong relationship but today it has not reflected on the latter.
“We are ashamed of our opponents. As we speak, we have not got a representative at the helm of affairs like former Hon to help us,” she maintained, adding that Hon Moiwa must be considered.
Chief Lahai Joe, who doubles as Organizing Secretary, disclosed that very few indigenous party members were extending support to the chiefdom, noting that they are still struggling and being provoked by opposition members on their current status.
Speaking on their relationship with the independent candidate, he used the opportunity to encourage and apologize to them whilst asking his party supporters to embrace the latter.
Councilor Doel Kallon of Ward 18, Jawie Chiefdom, said it was former Hon Maada Moiwa Momoh who transformed their politics from an archaic one to a highly participatory and more democratic one.
He said it was necessary for the former MP to abandon the Constituency/Chiefdom for too long, as, according to him, wicked people would have manipulated his presence to wreak havoc in order to implicate him.
Chiefdom Youth Leader, Fatorma Momoh, said they were misled by some wicked elders to divert their support from SLPP to another candidate, but they have realized their mistakes and are asking the party to forgive them.
On behalf of all Town Chiefs, Chief Kenneth Massaquoi said President Maada Bio was first accompanied by Hon Maada Moiwa Momoh to their chiefdom, and that on their arrival the President had asked residents of Jawei to rely on Hon Moiwoh as his trusted soldier.
SLPP Kailahun District Chairman, Gbessay Jusu Jaka Gobeh, aka Chokie, noted that they were always sure to envisage problems at Constituencies 001 and 007 due to the fact that they were won by independent candidates.
He further advised the former MP to frequently visit and stay in the community, whilst assuring the people that President Bio is aware of the current situation in Jawie Chiefdom. He reassured the people of the Government’s developmental agenda.
“Remorse is better than pride, and it is necessary to forgive and let go,” the former MP said in his keynote address.
He recalled that, in 2012, most of those who rallied behind him transformed themselves to support the independent candidate, as God made him to win.
He said now his people have got the full understanding of what it means to have an independent candidate as MP, whilst their own party is in power.
“It is now timely to reconcile and embrace,” the former MP said.
Hon Moiwoh disclosed that he became a target for many in the district, because of his strong loyalty to President Bio when they were in opposition.
“Losing as an MP has not had any negative impact on me as long as my party is in power,” he concluded.
