SOCO Testifies In Malicious Damage Matter

Police prosecution witness, who is also Scene of Crime Officer (SOCO), Detective Police Constable 17308 Kadiatu Kamara, attached to the Criminal Investigation Department at Ross Road Police Division in Freetown, has testified at the Ross Road Magistrate Court No.1, which is presided over by Magistrate Wilbri Hamida Moira John, in an ongoing matter involving Mohamed Conteh and Baimba Conteh.

The accused are charged with the offences of malicious damage, wounding with intent, wounding and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, which are all contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.

PW5 recalled Monday 28th November, 2020 when she was on duty at the Criminal Investigation Department. According to her, she received a telephone call from Detective Police Constable 14338 Bangura who told her to visit a crime scene at Moyeba in Freetown.

She said, upon their arrival, she took several photographs with her Techno Spark Five mobile phone. Those photographs were printed into pictures, produced and tendered to form part of the court`s records.

The police charge sheet details that Mohamed Conteh and Baimba Conteh, on Sunday 22nd November, 2020, at Moyeba in Freetown, conspired together with unknown persons to commit a felony, to wit wounding with intent.

The charge sheet furthered that, on the same date and address, both accused maliciously damaged five bundles and thirty corrugated iron sheets, which are valued at one million nine hundred and fifty thousand Leones.

Other valuable items, destroyed, are valued at two million eight hundred and fifty thousand Leones (Le2,850000), which are properties belonging to Saidu Turay.

The police say both accused wounded and assaulted Hawa Kamara in manner thereby causing her grievous bodily harm.

The accused were remanded and the matter was adjourned to 19th May, 2021.
