SOLDIERS ASSAULT POLICE

Police Constable 15079 Mansaray Samueal attached at the East End Police Division in Freetown, was on Saturday 2nd November, 2019 assaulted by a group of soldiers, headed by one Captain Mansaray, commonly known as ‘Doctor Mans’ around Garrison Street/ PZ axis around 2 am.
The victim, PC 15079 Mansaray Samuel who sustained life threatening injuries and currently hospitalized in the male ward at the Police Government Hospital in Kingtom, explained to Nightwatch that he was on duty on the said date when he went to buy food at the Garrison Street/ PZ axis at around 2 am.
According to him, he went with his motor cycle and parked it in front of an entertainment center called Royal Empire so that he may have the opportunity to buy the food.
He averred that after he had purchased the food, he went to collect his motor bike when he met Captain Mansaray standing close to his bike and he politely pleaded with him to make way for him to move and ride off to his duty station.
He further stated that Captain Mansaray refused to make way for him despite numerous pleas.
He stated that he tried to move the motor cycle in order to avoid any confrontation with him, but the captain was adamant and he kicked the bike and remarked that he should find another route to use.
He added that after the confrontation, four military officers believed to be juniors to Captain Mansaray appeared on the scene and pepper sprayed his eyes.
“They started beating me up despite them knowing that I am a Police officer,” Samuel Mansaray recounted.
He said the military officers even threatened to beat anyone trying to halt them.
‘I was beaten to the point of losing consciousness and I only regained consciousness after some hours, and I was shocked to find myself in a bed at the Police Hospital at Kingtom,
According to Samuel Mansaray, report has already been made and the matter is currently under investigation at the Central Police Division.
He reiterated that several attempts have been made to reach the said soldiers but they are yet to be reached.
He concluded by appealing to the Inspector General of Police, Dr. Richard Moigbeh to speedily look into his matter and bring the perpetrators to justice.
