Stakeholders demand for Dropping Centers

The Sierra Leone Psychiatrist Hospital, Social Linkages for Youth Development and Child Link (SLYDCL), National Commission for Youths, the Sierra Leone Alcohol Policy Alliance (SLAPA) among other Stakeholders on drug    and drug related issues in Sierra Leone has called on the Government and other donor partners to help provide dropping centers across the country for the rehabilitation and counseling of children and youths affected by drug abuse.

Stakeholders pointed out that the absence of dropping   centers in most organizations is a serious concern in the management and rehabilitation of drug addicts in the country. This, he disclosed, has hindered  efforts in ensuring that Sierra Leone achieves a drug free and healthy nation.

Aniru Brima, of the Kissy Mental Home and the founder Executive Director Child Linkages Development and Child Link, Habib T. Kamara also pinpointed the need for dropping centers in the fight against illicit drugs and trafficking.

SLYDCL Director further emphasized that the country should focus on demand and supply reduction as  his organization is currently operating in three districts with three dropping centers but is unable to combat the prevailing problems.
