Sallu Ibrahim Gbongay, who also doubles as a teacher at David Arnold Senior Secondary School, Wellington in Freetown, has testified in a wounding matter involving Yusuf Sankoh, who is charged with the offences of wounding with intent, wounding and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, which are all contrary to the Offences against the Persons Act of 1861.
The prosecution witness, Sallu Ibrahim Gbongay, told the court that he recognized the accused and he could recall Tuesday 6th March this year. He informed the court that, on that fateful day, he was in the classroom teaching when he received a telephone call from his wife, Fatamata Sankoh, who gave him information that someone had stabbed his daughter and she had been taken to the Rokupa Government Hospital for treatment.
According to him, he immediately left for Rokupa Government Hospital at Wellington, adding that, upon his arrival, he saw his daughter with blood running from her wound.
The witness rounded up his testimony that he took a snap shot of his daughter`s wound, which, he said, he developed the shots into pictures. He said he tendered them in court to form part of court`s records.
The accused has made his second appearance before Magistrate Alhaji Suliaman Koroma, who presided over at the Ross Road Magistrate Court No.1 in Freetown, for the offences of wounding with intent, wounding and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The charge sheet indicates that Yusuf Sankoh, on Saturday the 6th March 2020, at Taylor Street in Wellington, in the Freetown Judicial District in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, wounded and assaulted the complainant, Aminata Gbongay, in a manner thereby causing her grievous bodily harm.
However, since the inception of the matter, the accused has not been represented. Bail was refused and the matter was adjourned to the 6th April, 2020.
