The Teqers of Sierra Leone have once again demonstrated their commitment to put the sport in a competitive form in the country. Drawn from almost all regions of the country, the teqers assembled for the 3rd Series with different determination.

The beach venue was strange for most of them, but they ventured to display their skills to the admiration of the public. Many tourists, at the beach, had an opportunity of watching live Teqball.

It all started with the usual ceremony where the Team Leader, Unisa Deen Kargbo, addressed them to remain focused. In his words, “Let Sierra Leoneans know that Teqball has arrived and the game is here to stay and compete with the rest of the sports disciplines. So teqers, let us remain focused and continue with the new sport.” The competitions were keen in all categories.

In the mixed doubles final, Koyateq lost the match 2-1 to their opponents, Calabateq in Freetown. Calabateq have won the mixed doubles three times in a row. Koyateq has been the runners up for the mixed doubles for three times in a row.

In the finals of the singles, Abdulai Bangura of Koyateq won the match by 2 straight wins. It was his first gold victory in the series.

In the doubles, the surprised finalists, from Bakeh Loko, won against the double champions, Koya Teq, by two sets to one.

The tournament organisation was satisfactory, according to the experts. The President of NOC, Dr Patrick Coker, and his executive were at the beach to watch and inspire the Teqers. Medals and trophies were distributed to winners.
