The APC Fiasco

It is a fact that the APC is at present in a state of flux The AYV news of May 28th Published a Press Release stating that for the first time after the March 2018 elections the National Advisory Committee of the party met and set up a nine –man committee.

In another development the Exclusive on May 28th published an item with the headline ‘’APC To Amend Constitution ‘’ .It wrote of a new group formed within the opposition by a young group of members called APC Reformation Group which seeks for an amendment of certain sections of the party’s Constitution especially the one that deals with the selection /election of the Presidential Candidate.

Non-renewal of Judges Contract

The Standard Times of May ,28th published that the contract  of four Judges named are judges Nyawo Finda ,Matturi –Jones ,Justice Adelaide Dworzar and Justice Sam Margai.The unfortunate thing about these retirees is that they cannot fall back on diplomatic and other  appointments like former Chief Justice Umu Tejan Jalloh .Too bad .

Blackout Will Soon Be Over

The Standard Times of May 29th wrote of the new Minister of Energy Alhaji Kanjah Sesay being busy finding ways and means to address the rampant blackout especially in the capital city of Freetown.It added that the new government had successfully negotiated a very good deal with the Turkish Power Ship owners and a contract is about to be signed .The contract was said to have received the backing and endorsement of the World Bank according to a senior World Bank official in Freetown.

The item contained an appeal to Sierra Leoneans to exercise calmness and patience as the new government of President Bio continues to address bread and butter issues.

Panic of petitioned APC MPs

The Satellite of May 29  wrote that the fate of 15 petitioned members of parliament of the Main opposition All Peoples Congress Party will be decided within the next three months following the Attorney –General’s call on all Judges adjudicating the matter to fast track cases.

The paper added that among many pedestrian concerns of the public regarding the proper functioning of the judiciary, Mr.Margai has the challenge of reducing the time cases take in court due to among other things, wrong prosecution absence of witnesses, lawyers and magistrates and judges who set on the cases .
