To Increasingly Comply With NATCOM’s Desire… Orange-SL Steps-up Sim Registration

To enhance digital revolution in Sierra Leone as well as abide by the dictates of the National Telecommunications Commission (NATCOM), the leading telecommunications company, Orange Sierra Leone yesterday, 18th September 2019, intensified its mass free Orange Sim Cards registration of subscribers in the capital City of Freetown.
Admonishing Orange Staff at the company’s headquarters at Hill Station, west of Freetown, the Chief Executive Officer, Orange Sierra Leone, Madam Aminata Kane, disclosed that ten teams of Orange staff have been dispatched by the company to reach out to subscribers in their various offices and business places to register their Sim Cards.
The firebrand female CEO stated that Orange-SL cares about the security of Sierra Leone and this explains why they are always collaborating with the government, especially the regulating body NATCOM with a view to help in strengthening security systems to robustly respond to threats through the use of telecom operator technology.


She further disclosed that NATCOM has extended its Sim Card registration to 15th October 2019 as a deadline for all telecommunications companies to register their subscribers/customers Sim Cards across the country.
The ongoing Sim Cards registration according to her is fully supported by the company and it is expected that this will significantly help towards addressing the huge problem of un-registered subscribers who want to use the company’s system to fraud decent and well-meaning people.
She assured all that the Sim registration is also critical for the company especially as it relates the company’s maintenance of electronic records of all subscribers in their data base system with a view to help NATCOM and the law enforcement apparatus in identifying any misuse or fraudulent activities that are of threat to the nation and to enable them investigate and prosecute people who want to beat the system.


She further revealed that the company recently undertook the same massive Sim registrations in the provincial areas as part of the company’s move geared towards meeting subscribers and new customers at their door steps to register their Orange Sim Cards.
She urged all subscribers across the country to register their Sim Cards now free of charge to any Orange offices across the country as defaulters risk blocking their Sim Cards after 15th October, 2019.
Highlighting some of the benefits of the registration, Madam Aminata Kane said anyone that registers his or her Sim will have access to Orange Money system which, she said, has become a huge success story for the company and Sierra Leone as a nation.
CEO Kane went on that the company is working tirelessly to help Sierra Leoneans benefit from the company’s unique products and services at affordable prices.
She noted that additional sites across the country is one of the company’s priorities to further boost quality network, adding that the launch of the Rial 4G broadband connectivity across the country is also another huge success for them as a company.


She went on that the 4G will definitely improve the lives of Sierra Leoneans because it will facilitate faster accessibility to internet connectivity.
The Public Relations Officer, Mabel Mason who spoke to the media said staff of the company will be going round the city to register subscribers and new customers.
The reason for this according to her is to meet NATCOM’s call for the registration of Sim Cards across the country.
