Ahmedu Jusu has made his first appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No.1 for the offences of wounding, malicious damage and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, which are all contrary to law.
Prosecution witness (PW) 1 Alfred Baimba Kamara, a student at Fourah Bay College told the court that he recognised the accused as his neighbour and could recall 27th January, 2021.
He said on that day, he was at home, when his mother whose name was not mentioned, told him that the accused have made a complaint to her against him.
He said upon the information, he approached the accused at his business place in order to find out what was the matter. He further told the court that when he approached the accused at his shop, he became annoyed and started using abusive language on him.
He noted that during the process, the accused attempted to stab him twice, which he was unable to do.
Mr. Kamara said the accused ultimately succeeded and stabbed him on his left leg and right ankle. He said blood was oozing from his wounds, from which he fainted and fell.
“My neighbours came at the crime scene and took me to the Mount Police Division, Hill Station in Freetown where I was issued with a police medical request form for treatment at the Connaught Hospital in Freetown,” he told the court.
He rounded up his testimony noting that when he returned the endorsed medical paper to the police, he also made a statement.
According to the police charge sheet, Ahmedu Jusu, on Wednesday 21st January, 2021 in Freetown, wounded and assaulted the complainant in a manner thereby causing him grievous bodily harm.
The accused was not legally represented. He was refused bail and remanded at the Male Correctional Centre, Pademba Road in Freetown. The matter will come up again on 28th May, 2021.
