Two accused persons have been arraigned before, magistrate Alhaji Sullaiman Koroma for three counts of wounding with intent, wounding and public insult.
Alusine Kamara and Abdul Kamara, first and second accused persons respectively are in court for allegedly wounding Abdulai Bangura who testified during the day’s proceedings. The former is the father of the letter.
In his testimony, Bangura told the court that recognized the accused persons and also recalled the 14th October, last year.
On the said date, witness said, he was coming from his shop when he caught up with the 2nd accused, Abdul Kamara. At that point, the witness said, the second accused referred to as a “bastard.”
“Are you referring the word “bastard” to me,” the witness asked.
Abdulai Bangura also testified that a quarrel ensued between him and the second accused person threw peppered water on his face. “ I shouted for help,” the accused,” the witness narrated.
After few seconds, the witness went on, he felt sharp pain on his arm and continued to shout. “Neighbours came to scene and helped me,” the witness said.
The witness also told the court that he was taken to the Kissy Police Station where he made a report against the two accused persons.
Bangura said he was issued with a police medical form for examination and treatment at the Connaught Hospital in Freetown.
“I was later called upon by police to make statements which I did,” the witness said.
Counsel Amodu Koroma is representing the two accused persons. Relying on Section 79 of the Criminal Procedure Act, defence counsel applied for bail for his clients.
In his attempt to secure bail for the accused persons, Lawyer Koroma told the court the first accused, Alusine Kamara is a bread winner.
“Credible persons are willing and ready to stand surety for the accused persons and they will avail themselves in court as and when necessary,” Counsel appealed.
Counsel Koroma assured the court that the accused persons would not interfere with the Prosecution witnesses.
Having heard bail application from the defence counsel, Magistrate Koroma granted bail to the second accused and refused bail for the first accused.
The second accused appeared in court in his school attire portraying himself as a pupil. Such portrayal apparently secured him the bail.
The police charge sheet indicates that the accused persons, Alusine Kamara and Abdul Kamara on the 14th October 2019, in the Freetown Judicial district in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, wounded the complainant Abdul Bangura.
matter comes up 7th February.
