The presiding Magistrate of the Freetown Magistrate Court No.1, Magistrate Santigie Bangura, yesterday remanded two brothers -Mohammed Sama Jalloh and Mohammed Juma Jalloh- at the correctional centre for fraudulently converting, to their own use and benefit, one Mitsubishi vehicle entrusted to them by complainant (Fudia) for the purpose of selling.
The accused were charged with two counts of conspiracy and fraudulent conversion, which are contrary to section 20 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
The charge sheet states that the accused, sometimes in July 2017 at College Road Congo Cross in Freetown, conspired together with other persons unknown to commit a felony, to wit fraudulent conversion.
Also, on the same day at the same place,the accused fraudulently converted to their own use and benefit one Honda bike and Mitsubishi vehicle valued at eight thousand, five hundred USD (USD 8,500), which is equivalent to seventy-three million, nine hundred and fifty thousand leones (Le73,950,000). Of course it is the property of Fudia Sesay.
Both accused have pleaded not guilty of the offence. Defense lawyer, D. Barrie, made bail application on behalf of both accused, but the prosecutor, A.S.P. Ibrahim Mansaray, objected to bail.
The accused were denied bail by the Magistrate and the matter was adjourned to the 14th February, 2019.
