19 years old Ibrahim Sorie Kallon, a tailor, and 25 years old Daniel Kargbo made their first appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court no.1 in Freetown on a count charge of larceny in a dwelling house contrary to Section 13 (1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of offence, both accused on Thursday, 27th June, 2024, at Baindus Drive off Lumley Beach Road in Freetown, with intent, broke and entered into the dwelling house of Alhaji Sahr Fabba Morsay and stole $3,400 (three thousand four hundred United States dollars), property of the accused.
Defence counsel I.S. Mansaray led Alhaji Sahr Fabba Morsay who lives on Beach Road, Lumley, who is also a traditional leader and miner.
The witness continued that he recognised the accused persons in the dock. He stated that the first accused was staying with them to learn tailoring, and the second accused was introduced by the first as his brother.
The witness stated that sometime in June 2024, he returned home from his business place with a bag of money and headed straight for his room with the said money while the second accused was at home but the first was absent.
The witness furthered that he had kept the money inside his bag only to leave home the following day realising that he had forgotten the money at home.
Defence counsel asked for a short date thereafter. A bail application was made for and behalf of the accused persons. Magistrate Kekura refused bail due to the seriousness of the matter and had both accused remanded.
The matter was adjourned to 25 July, 2024, for further hearing.
