In a bid to encourage people to have a culture of saving, the United Bank for Africa has, on the 24th, May, 2018, made their final saving promo draw at their Head Office in Freetown, where the bank dashed out millions of Leones to winners of the draw.
To make the draw transparent and credible, the bank invited journalists from different media houses and the public to witness the final draw.
According to the Managing Director, Chinedu Obeta, the saving promo was launched last year November, 2017 with the aim of encouraging customers and the public to have a culture of saving for future development. He told the audience that, this is the third time the bank is doing such saving promo for their customers.
He said, in any environment they operate as bank, they will try to encourage people in order to promote businesses, adding that saving promo is just the way to encourage people to embark on saving money.
He informed that those that participated in the saving promo are their customers, stating that during the promo, their customers benefited in diverse ways, with the interest rate for customers being 7% and the bank also issued one free master card.
He made it clear that the bank is doing the final saving promo draw because they want to fulfill their promises made to their customers and the public as a whole.
The Managing Director explained the categories of prizes for the winners, which were: the first prize is one freezer, second prize is one million Leones shopping at Freetown Mall, third prize is three million Leones cash, fourth prize is weekend at Radisson Blu Hotel and the star prize is ten million Leones cash.
“We are not doing this saving promo because we want to make money; we are doing it because we want to encourage people to learn to save for their future,” the MD noted.
Speaking on the criteria for the promo, the Head of Marketing and Communications, Mohammed Konneh, said the criteria was that, an existing customer must have three million Leones in his or her saving account and monthly growth of one million Leones and a new customer must have opened his or her savings account with one million Leones and monthly growth of one million Leones.
He disclosed that after six months of the promo period, five hundred eligible customers met the requirement.
After the transparency and creditable draw was done, the first prize was won by Ernestine Jenneh Barrie, a customer of Lumley Branch in Freetown. The second prize went to Abdul Rahman Kamara, a customer of Makeni Branch. The third prize was won by Aminata Kabba, a customer of Bo Branch. The fourth prize was won by Janneh Mbalu, a customer of Makeni Branch and the star prize was won by Madam Manty Turay, a customer of Makeni Branch.
In conclusion, the Managing Director thanked their customers and encouraged them to continue saving money with the bank and called on the public to start saving with UBA Bank as they could be the next lucky winners.
