Vehicle Mechanic Docked For Fraudulent Conversion

Mohamed Kamara has made his second appearance before Magistrate Alhaji Suliaman Koroma at the Ross Road Magistrate Court No. 1 for fraudulently converting one Benz Car E 200, valued at six thousand United States dollars ($6,000) an equivalence of fifty million, four hundred thousand Leones ( Le 50,400,000).

The incident was reported to have taken place at No. 22 Bai Bureh Road, Freetown sometimes in 2017.

The accused was before the court on one count charge of fraudulent conversion, contrary to law.

The particulars of the offence states that, Mohamed Kamara, sometimes in 2017 at No. 22 Bai Bureh Road in the Freetown judicial district, in Western Area, fraudulently converted one Benze Car E 200, valued at six thousand United States dollars ($6,000) an equivalence of fifty million, four hundred thousand Leones (Le 50, 400,000) entrusted to him by the complainant Abdul Bah, for the purpose of inspection.

Police Prosecution witness, Abdul Bah, told the court that he recognizes the accused through one of his friends Abdulai.

He added that sometimes in 2017, he had a second hand vehicle which had mix-firing and engine problems.

The witness disclosed that consequent upon this continued he had contacted the accused Mohamed, through his friend Abdulai with a view to get him to inspect the vehicle

The witness added that the accused Mohamed Kamara was unable to inspect the vehicle on that same day due to his busy schedules.

The witness further recounted that he had also asked the accused to list the entire essential items needed to repair the vehicle and that they were to the tune of one million, eight hundred and seventy thousand Leones (Le1, 870,000 )

The witness stated that the accused Mohamed Kamara, took the vehicle with him at the garage and they both agreed that the accused returns the vehicle on the following day.

The accused failed to return the vehicle as agreed and since then has been on the run until when he was arrested, the witness testified.

The accused Mohamed Kamara was not represented in court and hence was remanded.

The matter was adjourned to the 27th January 2020.
