WARD-C Chair splashes over One billion Leones in Infrastructural Projects

The Chairman, Western Area Rural District Council, Kasho Holland Cole, has on Wednesday commissioned three infrastructural projects in the Western Area Rural District to the tune of one billion, four hundred and eighty-three million, four hundred and ten thousand Leones (Le (1,483,410,000).
The projects include the construction of two six-classroom blocks at REC Bassa and REC Kossoh towns respectively.
Officially launching the project, the WARD-C Chairman noted that he is launching the schools project in line with President Bio’s Education flagship project.
He disclosed that his District is challenged in terms of Schools to enhance effective teaching and learning as envisioned by the President and his Government.
Mr. Cole noted that the school project will heavily impact on the enrollment status of children in that part of the country.
He concluded by reiterating the fact that the beneficiary communities have been carefully selected based on their needs for such school infrastructure.
At the Commissioning of the Market Center at Yams Farm also in the Western Area Rural District, the Chairman stressed the fact that women rely on commerce to effectively respond to the basic needs of their children.
The market centre, according to him, will therefore create a more hygienic and conducive centre for the buying and selling of foodstuffs and other commodities in Yams Farm and other surrounding communities in the district.
The construction of a six-class room building , an office space and a store for the people of Bassa Town will cost four hundred and ninety-eight million, five hundred thousand Leones,( 498,500,000) while the construction of a market known as Type One at Yams Farm with a butcher house, a fish house, thirty stalls and a host of other facilities as approved by the Ministries of Trade and Agriculture, will cost four hundred and eighty-eight million, five hundred and thirty-five thousand Leones(488,535,000).
The six-class room block at the Kossoh REC School which will comprise a store and office space will cost four-hundred and ninety-six million, three hundred and seventy-five thousand Leones (496,375,000).
Mr Holland Cole disclosed to the gathering that all of the projects will be financed by Council from home source revenues.
The launch of the three projects was chaired by the Chief Administrator, Aminata Kargbo.
Lamin Kamara, the District Engineer gave an overview of the projects.
The projects were officially commissioned by Chairman Holland Cole who used the occasion to urge residents of the district to pay their property rates, shop licenses and market dues to give Council the financial muscle to carry out more projects.
The launch was witnessed by district stakeholders and councilors of the Western Area District Council.
