BY Janet A Sesay

Sheik Ibrahim Kargbo, a man of God, has, on Wednesday 3rd September 2020, been issued a warrant of arrest by Magistrate Abdul Sheriff of Court No.3 on Pademba Road Freetown. This is because he failed to appear in court to answer to charges brought against him by Dericka Thompson, a school going pupil.

The accused, Sheik Ibrahim Kargbo, was brought in on a count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, which is contrary to Section 47 of the Offences against the Person Act of 1861.

According to the charge sheet, the accused, Sheik Ibrahim Kargbo, on Friday 8 December 2019, at Sussex village, Peninsula in Freetown, assaulted Dericka Thompson in a manner thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm.

Since the accused was granted bail, he jumped bail and refused to attend court proceedings. On that light, the Prosecuting Officer, ASP Moses Moore, applied to the court to arrest him, which was granted by Magistrate Abdul Sheriff.

The matter comes up again on the 10 September 2020.
