A woman, Damoh Williams, has been remanded at the Female Correctional Centre by Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown after she changed her plea to guilty in an assault case and she is expected to return to court on 28th July, 2026 when the court will receive her records and pass sentence on her.
The Defendant is before the court on a single count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, contrary to Section 47 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861.
According to the indictment, the defendant, on Wednesday, 28 January 2026, at No. 36B Ascension Town, Freetown, in the Republic of Sierra Leone, assaulted Safiatu Bangura in a manner that occasioned her actual bodily harm.
During the proceedings, the Defendant, who had initially pleaded not guilty, informed the court that she wished to change her plea. After the charge was read to her again, she pleaded guilty to the offence.
Magistrate John Manso Fornah ordered that the Defendant be remanded at the Female Correctional Centre pending her sentencing and the matter was adjourned to 28th July, 2026.
