2 Arraigned for Forgery

Lamin Bangura and Sorie Kabai are currently standing trail at the Ross Road Magistrate Court No. 1 presided over by Magistrate Alhaji Suliaman Koroma for offences of conspiracy to commit a felony to with forgery and uttering forged documents.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the offences. Police Prosecutor Assistant Superintendent of police Osman Mohamed Bangura applied that he wished to offer no evidence on CS117/2020 to be replaced by CS 219/ 2020.
He told the court that he is making the application pursuant to section 105 of the Criminal Procedure Act No. 32 of 1965.
Defense`s application was granted by the presiding magistrate.
Defense counsel A. Conteh applied for bail on behalf of his clients stating that the accused persons have been incarcerated for two weeks.
He laid emphasis on the second accused Sorie Kabia, who according to him is sick and needed urgent medical attention.
Lawyer Conteh furthered drew the attention of the court that he is ready to proceed with matter, but due to the negligence of the Police prosecutor, he did not want his clients to continue to languish in detention.
The police Prosecutor Assistant Superintendent of Police Osman Bangura objected to bail application on the grounds that they wanted to hear the evidence .
The presided Magistrate Alhaji Suliaman Koroma agreed with the prosecutor and refused bail .
The police charge sheet indicates that the accused persons, Lamin Bangura and Sorie Kabbia at IMTECH main Campus in the Freetown judicial district, in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, conspired together with unknown persons to documents purported to be signed by DR. Sheku Conteh knowing the same to be false.
The police charge sheet furthered that the accused person on the same date and address, forged documents and applied for admission to undertake a graduate program signed by Dr. Sheku Conteh, knowing the same to be false.
The accused persons were remanded and the matter comes up 12th February.
