The upcoming Bintumani 111 Conference, in the next day or two, is now almost unstoppable. Attempts by PUAWUI and others regarding the timing of the Conference may be useful for future reference only. Peace is the absence of war which is why some citizens are worried or nonplussed as to the need for this conference at this point in time. It may well be because of intelligence reports from the Organization of National Security (ONS) or just horrible imagining of jittery leaders.
Sierra Leone is not torn by conflict and is in no way heading for an abyss as is evidenced by the IMF. Peace becomes mankind and fury is for the beasts. Incidentally Sierra Leone had been the most peaceful country in the sub region and has maintained that position. Therefore unless those who know better convince us that there is some cataclysmic event which they are about to pre-empt, we shall remain dazed about the essence of the forthcoming Conference.
It will be recalled that Bintumani 1 and 2 were conflict based and had to end with firm resolutions which could be as worthless as the papers they were written on. They can be as good as manifestos that are just morally binding.
The timing of the hurried Bintumani 111 with the expected judgments in the petition cases of the APC in court seems to suggest a link. There is a likelihood that most of those cases would be lost by the APC and that a peace conference could placate the ripple effect of those judgements. If that is the case it is a cowardly move to punish according to the law and to placate for political purposes. When the APC swooped down on the SLPP headquarters at the tacit bidding of the two-faced Ernest Koroma there was no placating, no tear. When Maada Bio’s head was stoned there was rejoicing. If the petitions were not ignorant and corrupt they would have known that in our system of governance there is separation of powers by which the President as head of the Executive should not influence decisions of the Judiciary. Many petitioners who entered Parliament by accident will be affected.
It would appear that the APC have not abandoned their use of occult power that they initiated during the 2007 elections when they solicited the aid of fortune tellers that asked them to use the old clothing of Maada Bio, among other things. They seem to have failed in the 2018 elections but they are relentless. The Body of Christ should intensify their prayers and fasting to remove the ignoble citizens from our politics.
The ultimate aim of the APC according to their leader and Chairman, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma is to render Sierra Leone ungovernable as long as his party is not in power. There are several ways to kill a cat and disruption of governance is the way they are embarking upon.They will either attend Bintumani 111 to reject every good idea or boycott the sittings.
President Bio should not pay heed to Obama’s statement that Africa does not need strong leaders. Obama is not infallible. President Bio should not treat these people with kid gloves.They need to be handled strongly according to the law. We do not need a pacific President. We need a militant ex –army officer as long as what he does is within the Rule of Law. We do not have a war or threat of war.
