Orange Sierra Leone has on Wednesday signed a partnership agreement with the Sierra Leone Premier League Board.
Annie Wonnie Katta, Head of Media and Public Relations, Orange Sierra Leone says the deal between her company and the Premier League Board will grant Orange telecoms exclusivity in covering the 2020 football season across the country.
She told newsmen just after the signing of the partnership that Orange Sierra Leone as part of the MOU will provide match updates, team news and other news on some of its partner radio and television stations throughout the season.
Orange Sierra Leone, she continued, will also do broadcast of bulk SMS on match information general, promotion of the league and also give 70% of all VAS revenues to the Premier League Board.
She concluded by also indicating that Orange Sierra Leone has also committed to providing the man of the match for every league game across the country with one techno R6 phone.
The Premier League Board represented by its Chairman, Alieu Vandy Koroma Esq. has committed in the MOU to carry ‘’Proudly Supported by Orange Sierra Leone’’ in its branding of the 2020 League.
The Board would also provide brand visibility during every match as well as carry Orange logos on all backdrops for match press conferences.
Orange Sierra Leone is expected to be a party to the opening match of the league which commenced yesterday and Senior Executives of the company are also expected to make a statement at the ceremony as per the MOU.
The Sierra Leone Premier as per the MOU should provide exclusive telecoms branding on all media communications and advertisement relating to the 2020 league season.
The League which started yesterday saw competing teams locking horns in Kenema, Kono, Bo and Freetown in home and away encounters.
The fourteen teams competing in the league have for the past few days signed players, coaches, supporters and players’ jerseys ahead of the start of the league on Wednesday.
The sudden involvement of Orange Sierra Leone into promoting this year’s premier league was not a surprise to many as the company has always prided itself in promoting the Sierra Leonean cause.
Its footprints are not only in the fields of education, health, environment, women’s empowerment and financial inclusion, but also in the field of sport.
