The Congress which started as planned saw the Minister of Sport Ibrahim Nyelenkeh and many others made statements heralding the start of the Congress.
A stand-off has ensued later when some football stakeholders had expressed their dissatisfaction with the Budge Statement of the SLFA.
A one Hour stand-off ensued between the football stakeholders and the SLFA Executive. The matter was later put into votes and those who were in favour of approving the budget got the upper hand.
The contentions had also continued with the actions to constitute various committees such as the Disciplinary and Electoral Committees.
Many were quite dissatisfied that the processes for constituting such committees were flouted by the Kenema Congress.
SLFA Head of Media and Marketing Ibrahim Kamara, had acknowledged that some members of the Football Stakeholders had problems with certain issues at the Kenema Congress but that the majority had endorsed the outcome of the Congress and its deliberations.
He described the Congress as very legitimate and was properly constituted and hence its decisions would stand.
Emmanuel Saffa Abdulia who doubles as Former Chairman of the 2019 Sierra Leone Premier League Board and Senior Executive of the Old Edwardians Football Club noted that they were quite unhappy with the processes used at the Kenema Congress to approve various critical committees such as the Disciplinary and the Electoral Committees and also the Budget Statement of the SLFA.
He recounted that allocations from the FIFA funds to support football in the country were utilized solely by the SLFA Secretariat and that a pittance was given to the clubs which in the true sense should utilize a bulk of the monies from FIFA.
Saffa has threatened that they will be left with no option but to go to the CAF Arbitration Court or pull out of the current SLFA league if their demands are not met.
