During a visit to the township, the Mayor of Bo city, Harold L. Tucker, has intimated this medium that a massive welcome is planned for His Excellency, the President, Julius Maada Bio, this weekend in Bo.
He stated that the President is due to attend the Old Bo Boys Association (OBBA) celebration slated for the 27th to 29th April, 2018.
According to him, this would also see him visit the southern province and the Municipality of Bo for the first time since he was elected as President in the March polls.
As part of the preparations, according to His Worship, the Mayor of Bo, business houses and other senior stakeholders of the Municipality of Bo and party faithful have mobilized resources and materials which had culminated into the massive beautification and cleaning of the city in readiness to welcome the President.
Authorities at Bo Government Secondary School, Bo, and present pupils of the school are also expected to welcome their almamater for the first time as the first President from their school.
They are also engaged in massive work and putting finishing touches to grace the President’s visit and subsequently the OBBA celebrations.
Close sources have also intimated this press that Paramount Chiefs, who are OBBA members, are putting together preparations to officially crown His Excellency the President as the ‘Chief of Chiefs’ during their ‘Durbah of Chiefs night, which will take place on Saturday the 28th April, 2018. Incidentally, it is day one of the OBBA celebrations.
It could be recalled that very exuberant youths are seen all over the township of Bo painting electric poles and major streets in the township with green, white and blue colours. Women, both young and old, could also be seen sweeping and cleaning major streets within the township.
Police sources within the region have also intimated this medium that the police are set to provide a watertight security for his Excellency and other dignitaries from home and abroad, who are expected to throng the city of Bo.
This year’s celebration, many say, would be extraordinary, in that OBBA would be having in their midst the first gentleman of the Republic who is one of them.
Other senior members of the ruling SLPP party, who are members of OBBA, include the current proposed Minister of Health and Sanitation, Alpha Wurie, who doubles as the current President of OBBA.
