The national Secretary of the Citizens Democratic Party (CDP), Victor King, is standing trial at the Ross Road Magistrate Court No.1, which is presided over by Magistrate Alhaji Suliaman Koroma, for allegedly failing to pay rent for three consecutive years to his landlady.

According to Alberta Jones, the respondent is currently the occupant of the property in question, which is situated at No. 103A Black Hall, Kissy in Freetown.  The witness continued her testimony stating that the respondent had been mocking her for the properties. She made this revelation during yesterday`s proceedings at the Ross Magistrate Court No. 1.

The witness further testified that her lawyer has written the respondent, asking him to vacate the said premises, but the respondent has been very reluctant.

“This is the reason why I summoned him in court for the immediate possession of my property,” she told the court.

The prosecution Counsel, Thomas Beah, told the court that the respondent had been the occupant of the property from 2017 to 2020, without paying a single cent to the complainant.

Mr. Beah furthered that, since the inception of the matter, the respondent has failed to avail himself in court. The defence counsel, K.R. Swanneh, was also not present in court.

The presiding Magistrate, in his response, said that a notice should be sent to the respondent, and the matter was adjourned to 17th August, 2020.
