Cricket Returning Across The Nation

Must read

The Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SCLA) has made history over the weekend, with three 50-over league games played simultaneously in different grounds across the country. This happened for the first time, after many decades of there being only one cricket ground in the whole of Sierra Leone.

Sunday 21st March, 2021 was a special moment and a historic day for the SLCA after years of dedication and hard work. In the Southern Province, Bo Town, which is the second largest city in Sierra Leone, “we had one match at the Bo School Cricket Ground, where the Sierra Leone Police Cricket Club engaged Kent Cricket Club – KCC. The Bo School Ground has had an absence of cricket for many decades.”

There were two matches in Freetown: Asian Lions Cricket Club hosted Wanderers Cricket Club at the Prince of Wales School Cricket Ground, while Gujarat Cricket Club played Crusaders Cricket Club at the Kingtom Oval.

This weekend, the Njala University Cricket Ground, at Mokonda, will be available as well, and that will increase the number of grounds to four for the Sierra Leone Premier League, a big leap forward for cricket in Sierra Leone.
