‘I Am Here To Bring The Sports Family Together’ – Newly Appointed Director of Sports

The newly appointed Director of Sports, Haroun Korgie, has stated that he is here to bring the sports family together, adding that he wants to involve all the sporting associations in his activities so that they can work as one united force to develop and promote sports in the country.

Korgie made this statement during the final of the first edition Director of Sports Trophy two-day football gala at the Siaka Stevens Stadium main bowl on Sunday, 6th February 2022. 

Four teams including Rokel Veteran FC, Brookfields United Veteran FC, MOS/NSA FC and SWASAL FC participated in the gala which started on Saturday, 5th February 2022, with Brookfield United Veteran crowned after defeating MOS/NSA FC by a goal to nil in the final.

The director said the game of football brings the football family together and brings relative peace to the football environment, noting that sports have the power to unite and develop a nation.

‘I am here to bring the sports family together. I want to involve all the sporting associations in my activity so that we can work as one united force. I need everybody onboard for the development of sports in the country,’ he said.

‘As the new Director of Sports, this is my priority. I am also going to introduce the Veteran League for ex-players; we need them onboard to develop the game. As I end, let me say special thanks to the Minister of Sports, Ibrahim Nyelenkeh, and team, stadium management, the various veteran teams, SWASAL, community people, my organisers, etc, for making the two days football gala a success. God bless you all. By God’s grace in 2023, we will have the Second Edition of Director of Sports Trophy.’
