Alusine Rheme Wilson has emerged as the Acting Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Sierra Leone (SWASAL) North and Tejan Fredrickson Fatorma remains the Acting Secretary General of the association.

He took over as the Acting Chairman during the association’s maiden meeting held on Saturday 8 April 2023 at the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) North East Region Office on Teko Road in Makeni after his predecessor, Mohamed Papa Bangura, tendered his resignation exactly two weeks ago avoiding a conflict of interest due to his political aspiration in the upcoming 24 June 2023 elections.

Alusine Rheme Wilson is a seasoned media practitioner with a vast experience both in electronic and print media and is currently the editor of Northern Times Newspaper, the country’s first provincial newspaper, and a reporter for Sierra Leone’s leading and award-winning newspaper outlet, Awoko newspaper.

He is also a stringer for Sierra Leone at the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the Chief Executive Officer of AWE Media and has bagged multiple gongs: the reigning National Entertainment Awards (NEA) ‘Best Print Sports Journalist’ award two consecutive times in 2020 and 2021, and the 2022 Faces of the North Entertainment Awards (FaNEA) ‘Best Sports Personality of the Year’.

The new Acting Chairman, Alusine Rheme Wilson, thanked the general membership for entrusting him with such a responsibility and avowed his commitment to serve with diligence, especially at a time when the association needs every member.
