At Country Lodge… NLe236,442 Credit Fraud

A man identified as Diouf Saliou has been charged before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Court No.1 in Freetown over allegations that he obtained credit amounting to NLe236,442 from Country Lodge Hotel under false pretences and by fraud.

Saliou, is facing two counts under Section 13(1) of the Debtors Act, 1869.

The first count charges him with obtaining credit under false pretences, contrary to Section 13(1) of the Debtors Act, 1869.

According to the particulars of the offence, between 16 July 2026 and 1 September 2026, at HS 51 Hill Station, within the Western Area Judicial District, Saliou allegedly incurred a debt and obtained credit amounting to NLe236,442, equivalent to approximately US$9,851.75, from Country Lodge Hotel under false pretences.

The second count alleges that he obtained credit by fraud other than false pretences, also contrary to Section 13(1) of the Debtors Act, 1869.

The charge sheet states that during the same period and at the same location, Saliou allegedly obtained credit to the value of NLe236,442 (US$9,851.75) from Country Lodge Hotel through fraudulent means other than false pretences.

When the matter was mentioned, Saliou was absent before the court.

Counsel S. Bai representing Country Lodge hotel apply for bench warrant for the absent defendant Saliou pursuant to section 25 of the Criminal Procedure Act of 2025.

The application was granted by Magistrate Jah and the matter was

adjourned to the 16 September 2026 for continuation.
