Christiana Kamara, the younger sister of Sia Fatu Kamara, a victim of a murder case in the High Court has in her recent testimony at the Court described her sister’s relationship with her accused boyfriend as “abusive” but that her sister only maintained the relationship because of love.
She was testifying on Wednesday, 23rd July, 2025 whiles being crossed-examined by the Defense Counsel, Emmanuel Teddy Koroma before Justice Alfred Ghanda at the Freetown High Court.
Christiana was asked by Lawyer Koroma why the deceased maintained her love affair with the accused if the accused indeed used to abuse her, and she responded that she never witnessed the accused abusing her sister, but that her sister had been explaining to her what she was going through at the hands of the accused.
She had earlier told the court that she had known the accused as being in a love relationship with her sister for over eight years, confirming that they were indeed in a serious relationship.
Christiana following her confirmation that her sister was so much in love with the accused noted that she could not tell if the accused was actually in love with her sister.
Christiana further told the court that she was close to the accused and that she loved the accused as her sister’s fiancé, but her love for the accused seized after the deaths of her sister.
She also admitted that the accused was a Youth and Human Rights Activist and was also a Lecturer at Fourah Bay College (FBC) and a President of a social club at FBC.
The witness also admitted that the accused was with them throughout the time the deceased’s corpse was handed over to them as a family at the Emergency Hospital and he was with them at their house for intercessory prayer and to the time the deceased was taken to the mortuary.
The witness went on to deny before the court as haven stated in her statement to the police during investigations that her sister used to have difficulty in breathing, but when her statement was read to her it was proven that she deed told the police that her sister once in a while, was used to have difficulty in breathing whenever she does hard work. She however clarified that the said difficulty in breathing would only affect her late sister whenever she undertakes hard work, confirming such to have happened to her in her presence and went on to inform the court that the deceased had never been hospitalized for such a problem.
She also told the court that she had been suspicious about the cause of the deceased’s death after seeing a cut on the upper lip of the deceased and a blood stain on her lower lip.
She said during the day-long intercessory prayer for the recovery of the deceased at their house, she had a conviction that the deceased had actually died and would not be resuscitated.
The witness debunked a suggestion that it is possible that while the deceased was being taking up stairs for the prayer, she could have fallen and as a result, her lip had the cut. She said the deceased when taken upstairs by healthy men.
The witness had earlier in the continuation of her testimony on same day said that when the deceased was taken home from the hospital for prayer, the accused and some of his family members brought the deceased up stairs.
The witness told the court that several Pastors and their teams of Prayer Warriors prayed frenetically for the recovery of the deceased but she never regained her life.
The accused, Kpaka is charged with three counts offense of murder and perverting the course of justice. The case resumes next Wednesday, 30th July, 2025.
