The Deputy Minister of Finance, Madam Patricia Larvelly, has called on Members of Parliament to join government’s revenue collection drive.

The Deputy Minister of Finance indicated that she is aware of the daunting economic challenges inherited from the previous government and underscored the fact that most of the debts they inherited ran into trillions of Leones.

The Ministry of Finance, she disclosed, is working hand in glove to reshape and subsequently reduce government’s debt burden.

She noted that to promote transparency and accountability in government, the Ministry is developing expenditure tracking survey systems.

Minister Larvelly also told the MPs that the Ministry of Finance is cognizant of the challenges in the agriculture sector and this has informed government’s huge allocation to the Agricultural sector.

She disclosed that government is on the verge of establishing Youth and Chiefdom farms across the country.

She informed the MPs that they have also the concerns raised by MPs with regards the establishment of a Legal Advisory Wing in Parliament that will complement the efforts of the Ministry and Government in terms of drafting laws.

The initiative, according to the Deputy Minister, is commending and that she will discuss the issue with the Attorney General and Minister of Justice.
