Former President, Dr Ernest Bai Koroma joins two other African leaders to deliver a public lecture at the 83rd birthday of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
The birthday is expected to take place between 3rd and 5th March this year at the Olusegun Obassanjo Presidential Library International Conference Centre (OOPLIC) in Abeokuta in Nigeria.
OOPLIC is the brainchild of Centre for Human Security and Dialogue (CHSD) with support from the Benthrust Foundation.
The information about former President Koroma’s lecture in Nigeria was released by the Director, CHSD Peter Okebukola who said the lecture would precede Mr Obasanjo’s birthday.
The CHSD Director also told this medium that the topic of the lecture would be: “The Place of Pan Africanism in an Emerging World of Besieged, Liberal Democracy.”
Peter Okebukola further explained that the event would include a policy roundtable with the formal presentation of the book: ‘The Asian Aspiration,’ authored by Gre Mills, Olusegun Obasanjo and others. “This will be followed by a birthday carnival with mosaic presentations of African Cultural Heritage,” Mr Okebukola said. He explained that the roundtable on ‘The Asian Aspiration’ aims at sharing the lessons from Asia’s development for strengthening Africa’s integration and cooperation in the sphere of socio-economic development.
It is also hoped that the roundtable would bring together former heads of states and governments in Africa, especially from ECOWAS sub-region, heads and representatives of UN agencies, ambassadors of foreign missions to Nigeria, leaders from the public and private sector, the media, development experts and stakeholders.
