President Julius Maada Bio has appointed the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Lawyer Solomon Jamiru, as the new Communication Officer for the National COVID 19 Response Committee, replacing the Minister of Information and Communication, Mohamed Rahman Swarray, who was serving in an interim capacity. The announcement was made at the NCRC Press conference held recently at the MIC. During the event, the MIC Minister expressed satisfaction over the appointment of the young and vibrant lawyer, whom he described as a good communicator.
He also praised the President for making such a good appointment, especially in choosing someone that has a legal background. He urged all stakeholders to work with the new appointee in removing the COVID-19 outbreak from the country.
This is not the first time that Lawyer Solomon Jamiru has been invited by the President to serve as a communication officer. Before his appointment as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lawyer Solomon Jamiru served as the Deputy Minister of Information and Communication until he was replaced by Mamadi Gobeh Kamara. Under his capacity, as the new Public Relation and Communication Officer for the NCRC, Solomon Jamiru will be responsible for the day to day collection and dissemination of information regarding the COVID-19 outbreak. He will also be responsible for responding to the many concerns and questions that are being raised by the public.
