Gay Activist’s House Set Ablaze

Must read

A gay activist, Usman Kamara has been rendered homeless after his house was burnt down by angry youth in his community.

Everything was consumed except his passport which was not in the house during the inferno. The brutal act took place on Monday 28th March, 2022 at night while Kamara and his family were at home.

The Kamara family has been relocated to an unfinished building at the moment. No arrest has been made by the police in respect of the burning.

He continues to face death threats if he goes on with his advocacy. Kamara has been advocating gays and lesbians’ rights for 10 years, a move that renders him vulnerable to Violence in a community dominated by Muslims and Christians.

Speaking to this press, Kamara said he wanted to see that society recognises and respects rights of gays and lesbians.

“I am not a gay but an activist for the rights and freedoms of bisexuals, gays and  lesbians,” Kamara also informed  Nightwatch that  since the advocacy does not stop, stone throwing at Kamara never stops especially when returning home in the evening.

The brute act is done by boys who he could not identify. Kamara is now frightened since he found one of his colleague advocates dead in his apartment along Pademba Road, couple of years ago with no one held accountable. He is  calling  on philanthropists to come to his aid as his whole family is in disarray and his life  is at stake .
