Land Disputes Wahala… Social Welfare Minister Faces Ex-parte Application

An Ex-parte Notice of Motion dated 3rd November, 2025 has been moved at the High Court before Justice Hannah Bonnie for the Minister of Social Welfare, Mrs. Melrose Karminty to be added as Defendant to the instant civil matter between the Plaintiff, Lifeline Nehemiah Projects and the Defendants Mohamed Tunde Macarthy, Abu Baker Bah and Jeremiah Turay over a piece land that is under an injunction at Approved School in Freetown.

The motion was moved by Lawyer Enoh, Solicitor for the Plaintiff Applicant- Lifeline Nehemiah Projects for the following orders:

“That This Honorable Court grants leave to the Plaintiff/Applicant to join the Ministry of Social Welfare as Defendant to the instant matter.

Also, that This Court do grant leave to the plaintiff to join the Minister of Social Welfare as a Defendant to the instant action before the Court, and any other further order (s) or relief (s) that this Court deem fit and just.”

According to report, the land in questioned and which under Court injunction is being allegedly occupied by the Minister of Social Welfare, Mrs. Melrose Karminty with an ongoing structure she proposed for Shelter for the Disable on the Streets, which proposed project is said to be implemented under the Presidential Task Force.

The date for ruling on the said Ex-parte Notice of Motion would be communicated after the Judge’s ruling.
