Twenty-three-year-old Abubakar Bangura has been remanded pending sentencing after making another appearance before Hon. Justice Mustapha Mohamed Bawoh at High Court No. 2 in Freetown on charges of larceny.

The convict was before the court on two counts of larceny contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act, 1961.

According to the particulars of offence, on 19th February, 2025 at Freetown Park, Waterloo, the convict broke and entered the Arafat Investment Store and stole therein  the sum of Forty Thousand Leones (Le40,000), property of Abu Bakarr Jalloh.

During the proceedings, defence counsel C. Taylor Young was present in court while the State Prosecutor was absent.

In his plea in mitigation, defence counsel informed the court that the convict had already pleaded guilty to the offence. The defence Counsel appealed for mercy on behalf of the convict, noting that no previous criminal record had been presented against him. He therefore urged the court to consider sentencing the convict to the period already spent in custody.

After hearing the mitigation plea, Hon. Justice Bawoh adjourned the matter to the 9th of June 2026 for judgment and sentencing.
