Orange Donates Food Items To Mosques In Bombali And Kono Districts

As part of its Ramadan Sunakati promotion draw, Orange Sierra Leone has donated food items to several mosques in Bombali and Kono Districts over the weekend.

A team, led by Desmond Spaine, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, Orange Sierra Leone, started the donations on Friday, 24th May at the Makeni Central Mosque and later to other mosques within Makeni.

Officially handing over the food items, which included ten bags of rice, onions, milk, sugar salt, tomatoes and other cooking condiments, Mr. Abdul Dizzo Kamara noted that they are in solidarity with their Muslim brothers and sisters during the month of Ramadan.

“This is a way of them giving out to the nation and its people,” Mr. Kamara said to the people.

Earlier on, CSR Manager, Desmond Spaine, noted that they, at Orange, are always obliged during the month of Ramadan to support Muslims engaged in prayers and fasting with food items so as to complement the period.

He further disclosed that the donation is an annual affair and it is done across the country.

The Chief Imam for Bombali District, Sheik Lamina Koroma, while receiving the items on behalf of the Makeni Central Mosque Jamat, thanked the management of Orange for having the initiative to give during the blessed month of Ramadan. He informed that it is a commandment in the Quran that people who give charity during this month stand to have double blessings from the Almighty God.

He thanked the team from Orange for presenting the items and prayed to God Almighty to guide and prosper the business of Orange in the country. He called on the management of Orange to sustain what they have started.

Madam Abibatu Baxter, Starategic Partnership Manager, Orange Sierra Leone, used the occasion to speak to the congregation about the ongoing Sunakati Ramadan promotion. She noted that subscribers of Orange can win food items if they are involved in any Orange money transactions or when making calls.

She implored on the Chief Imam and the Jamat to participate in the promotion as they are liable to win food items for them and their families.

The team later made presentations in surrounding mosques in the District, such as Binkolo and Panlap. All the Muslim congregations appreciated the gifts and thanked Orange for supporting them during such difficult times.

The Regional Business Manager, north, Mr. Dizo Kamara used the opportunity to explain to the different Jamats about the Sunakti promotion draw and encouraged them to take part as they could be lucky winners of food items.

On Saturday 25th May, 2019 the team headed for Kono District and also made similar presentations to  Kainkordu Road Mosque and other surrounding mosques in the District.

The CSR Manager and the Kono team also explained to the various Muslim Jamats the purpose of the donations. They also used the opportunity to take them through the many products and services the company is offering. They called on them to subscribe to Orange so that the company will make more money to engage in more Corporate Social Responsibility projects in the near future.

The team has also used the opportunity to donate packaged items to the vulnerable people who always come around the various mosques to ask for alms.

James Balat regional business manager Kono and Kenema who handed over the items to Alhaji Sheikh Suffian Kabba .senior Chief immam if Gbense chiefdom used the occasion to express felicitations from the company. The imam thanked orange for the gesture and prayed for orange to grow from strength to strength.
