Thirty-five-year-old Samuel Bengeh, a fitter, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown after appearing before Principal Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 on a charge of larceny by servant.
Bengeh is charged with one count of larceny by servant, contrary to Section 17(1)(a) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, on Wednesday, 15 July, 2026, at No. 5 Wellington Street, Western Area, Freetown, Bengeh, being a servant employed by one Joseph Obeid, allegedly stole fuseboxes from three vehicles.
The items allegedly stolen include the fusebox of a Benz ML 350 4Matic, registration number AQX 989; a Subaru L-Light, registration number AIO 695; and a Hyundai HZOO, registration number AJP 679.
The total value of the alleged stolen items is said to be Le18,000, and they are the property of Agnes Bangura, Alhaji Foray and Tony Obeid, while in the custody of Joseph Obeid.
When the charge was read and explained to Bengeh, no plea was taken, as the matter is before the court as a committal proceeding.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Eric A. Deen informed the court that the accused had been served with copies of the case and inquiry file. Bengeh acknowledged receipt of the documents.
Magistrate Jah subsequently refused bail, citing the seriousness of the alleged offence, and remanded the accused at the Male Correctional Centre.
The matter was adjourned to 16 September 2026.
